Mesa City Council Public Hearing

On June 21, this coming Monday,  the Mesa City Council will hold a public hearing on the following ordinances:

  • To modify rates for natural gas utility services.
  • To modify rates for water utility services.
  • To modify rates for wastewater utility services.
  • To modify rates for solid waste utility services.
  • To modify fees and charges for utility customers
  • To modify the terms and conditions for the sale of utilities.
  • Amend Title 5, Chapter 10 of the Mesa City Code to adopt a tax rate for wastewater.
  • To amend Title 5, Chapter 3, Chapter 7 and Chapter 11 of the Mesa City Code to modify the fees and charges for park and Swap Operation, Auctioneers, Pawnbrokers, Scrap Metal Dealers, Secondhand Dealers and Teenage Dance Halls.
  • To modify the fees and charges for Revenue Collections Operations of the Business Service Departments.

This public hearing will be held at 5:30 pm in the

Mesa City Council Chambers
57 East First St.

If you want to address the council on any of the above issues you will need to arrive early to fill out a blue card which will be handed to the City Clerk before the meeting begins.

Here is a report out from a TEA Party member that attended the Mesa City Council meeting on May 17:

MESA CITY COUNCIL AGENDA

17 May 2010

  • Voted not to increase the annual assessments for the Mesa Town Center Improvement District.
  • Voted to approve nine store and restaurant license.
  • Voted to approve $8,044,920.30 worth of equipment purchases and capital improvements based on lowest, responsive and responsible bidder. All expenditures are covered by the current budget or will be covered by the 2010/2011 budget.
  • Voted to approve and support the submittal of seven grant applications by various city departments for $872,650.00 worth of grants from the Ak-Chin Indian Community and the Ft. McDowell Yavapai Nation for city improvements. The money is to be used for Mesa Parks, Community Health Education, Outreach Services, Youth Health and Wellness, Cultural Activities, and Tourism.
  • Voted to approve the municipal incorporation of an area known as San Tan Valley, AZ.
  • Voted to adapt a notice of intention to adjust rates or rate components, fees and/or service charges for irrigation water, natural gas, reclaimed water, solid waste, waste-water and water and establishing June 21, 2010 as the date for the public hearing.
  • Voted to assign delinquent accounts to collection services for the three-month period ending March 31, 2010 totaling $726,631.00.
